Locust Trading Company understands that some customers may choose to perform a ‘do-it-yourself’ flooring installation to save on labor costs. However, this is generally not a good idea unless you have considerable prior on-site experience with flooring installations. As a matter of fact, some manufacturers will refuse to honor their own product warranties unless those materials were professionally set in place. The main reason why DIY installations are rarely recommended is that they generally result in mistakes that both delay the project and cost more to correct the many mistakes that are made.
We even offer free in-home measurements upon request. We do this because accurately measuring a room (especially if it is not a perfect square or rectangle) is not as simple as stretching out a tape measure. It is quite easy to make mistakes and overlook taking measurements in closets and adjacent areas that will receive the same flooring material. Keep in mind that accurate measurements are necessary to order the correct amount of flooring product, so you need to be right the first time.
